Organic products gentler on baby skin
Organic baby bath wash has been recommended as a gentler alternative to traditional products.
Green living editor at the Ecologist Ruth Styles commented how parents should be looking to use natural creams and shampoos on their children's skin.
She claimed youngsters are far more sensitive to the effects of chemicals than adults and so "it's better to have as few as possible come into contact with their skin".
It was noted that baby skin is "up to five time thinner" than that of older individuals and, as a result, is "very porous" and unable to act as an effective barrier against toxins.
Ms Styles warned that little ones have a higher risk of "something nasty soaking in" to their bodies when they are exposed to chemical-based ingredients.
"There's no proper figures for how many toxins children absorb through their skin from bubble bath et cetera, but for many parents, it's better to be safe than sorry," the specialist commented.
Ingredients that adults should try to avoid introducing to their babies include parabens, synthetics and pesticide residues, Ms Styles stated.
In addition to keeping children free from exposure to chemicals, using organic baby bath wash was described as a good idea as it is gentler on skin.
Ms Styles claimed natural products are kinder to all ages, so they are especially good for use on small babies.
Makeup artist and skincare specialist Sophie Chamings recently commented that organic beauty items are less likely to block pores and so they enable skin to breathe "as it should", which supports "normal skin function".
It was also suggested that chemical-free products allow people to feel they are "aligning" themselves with nature, as they are not using mass-produced synthetic ingredients.
Ms Chamings remarked how organic items provided users with a "feel-good factor" as they know what they are using is safe on their body.
