How to stay on trend for Autumn 2010

How to stay on trend for Autumn 2010 With summer almost over (well it feels that way doesn't it?!) now is the time for fashionistas to focus on the forthcoming season and the trends that go hand-in-hand with it.

Yes, we're heading towards autumn/winter 2010 and so far, if you're looking to stay on trend with your natural makeup, there is a variety of different options open to you, and to ensure that you're all up to date and ready for what the season has to throw at you, I shall give you a rundown of what's hot.

On the catwalk, there has been a flurry of colour and one of the most shocking trends is the brightly-coloured theme, which has been seen on the runway in Pat McGrath's work for Dior, as well as on models for Prada and Dolce and Gabanna.

If you're into your bright shades, dabble with reds, purples, oranges and even blues, (take a peek at Inika Mineral Eye Shadow in Blue Steel, Fairy Floss or Kingfisher) but a word of warning – this look is best reserved for evenings out rather than a sedate day at the office!

In terms of more approachable and subtle looks, brown is everywhere right now, and Karen Loraine from The Makeup Box has explained that this can easily be incorporated to your usual natural makeup routine.

"For those of you who have grown attached the sultry thick eye-lashes and seductive eyeliners, fear not - the new smoky eye colour this winter is rich chocolate brown," she said, adding that if you're looking to branch out (no pun intended) then look to the autumnal colours such as tawny reds, olive greens and mellow yellow.

If you're particularly keen on recreating this style then take look at Alva Coleur Eye Shadow in Gold or in Autumn Forest.

According to some beauty commentators, brown can even be worn on the lips (try Inika Lipstick in Brazen Bronze) but if you're looking for something a little more retro and endlessly fashionable, red lips are probably the way to go.

Make-up artist Kristin Gallegos recently told The Stir Blog that it's all about "very defined, dark wine or blood-red lip. It's a strong look for the season that really makes a statement!".

Look to Chanel and Givenchy for inspiration – the rest of the face should be minimally made-up and the lips matte with a delicate liner round the edges. Invest in Inika Lipstick in Electric Red and you're good to go.ADNFCR-2389-ID-800030078-ADNFCR
