Wedding beauty tips fit for a princess (to be)

Wedding beauty tips fit for a princess (to be) There's less than 24 hours to go until the country celebrates the wedding of the year – Prince William and Kate Middleton will marry in Westminster Abbey, in what many are calling a modern-day fairytale.

While the royal wedding has certainly been on the tip of everyone's tongue in recent weeks, fashion fans have speculated about everything from the big (who will design the dress?) to the small (what colour nail varnish will she opt for?).

One's thing for certain – whether you're a princess-to-be marrying in a cathedral or a girl becoming the wife of your soulmate in the local registry office, a wedding should be the happiest day of any woman's life.

And an effective way to do that is to make sure that your natural beauty style is fit for a queen.

Makeup is a very personal thing and therefore what one bride feels comfortable in would be completely unsuitable for another.

Kate knows this and as a result, is reportedly planning to apply her own cosmetics, in order to ensure she achieves the desired effect.

But what effect should it be? Currently, there is a sense of romance about beauty styling, Vogue's Sharon Forrester explained.

"The result is a relaxed femininity built on natural-looking makeup (think pastel eye shadow shades, brightly coloured lipstick with a matte texture, or a radiant face that mimics the first rush of love)," she explained.

For those seeking a more dramatic effect, vintage styling continues to be a strong theme in beauty and is particularly fitting for some styles of dresses.

Liquid eyeliner boldly applied with a deft flick at the eye, soft red lips and a flawless complexion nods to the elegance of the 1950s and 60s, for those wanting to stand apart.

Many feel that the eyes have it when crafting a wedding look – and, as Stylist highlighted this month – smoky shadow effects have had somewhat of a renaissance this season.

But how do the experts feel about the news that Kate will be trying to steady her hand in order to apply her own mascara?
Celebrity makeup artist Dani Wagener told the Boston Herald: "She does her makeup really, really well. It looks great, not overdone."

The British public certainly agree – Kate recently beat fellow bride-to-be and supermodel Kate Moss to the top of a style poll, with 83 per cent applauding the future wife of Prince William for her "natural and warm" beauty, in a poll by QVC.

Whatever look she chooses, you can be sure that there will be hundreds of eager brides taking style notes – and that Kate will do the occasion justice.
