Expert claims natural smoothies are the healthiest
Individuals looking to boost their intake of superfoods have been advised to opt for smoothies that are as natural as possible.
According to nutritionist Fiona Kirk, drinks that have not been over-processed are the best option, as they contain more nutrients.
It was suggested that smoothies made from berries and cherries are some of the healthiest as they are "the richest in vitamin C and antioxidants".
However, "a good cress section of fruits is good", providing there is not too much banana.
When purchasing a smoothie, Ms Kirk recommended looking for those with the shorter shelf-lives as this is a sign they have not been chemically enhanced.
One tip was to browse the reduced section of the supermarket at the end of the day as people may be able to find cheaper options.
Ms Kirk's comments come after a report from Mintel revealed sales of smoothies have fallen as individuals struggle financially.
