Natural beauty foods that fight ageing
Ladies who have tried all sorts of natural beauty products in a bid to fight the signs of ageing may be interested to learn that diets can play a key role in helping boost a youthful appearance.
This is according to the Nutrition Society's Dr Sarah Schenker, who explained how nutrients and vitamins help to target wrinkles.
The expert claimed Beta Carotene and Vitamin C are important for healthy skin as they act as the former acts as an antioxidant, while the latter is required for the production of collagen.
Dr Schenker noted while Beta Carotene is not an anti-wrinkle product, it prevents "the break-down that leads to the ageing process".
"You can actually see that it is able to target certain areas of the body when you increase your intake of it," the specialist stated.
In addition to consuming superfoods that are high in vitamins and nutrients, individuals were advised to ensure they stay well hydrated.
"Being hydrated allows the body to lose water through the skin and that gives the impression that you have nice plumped up skin," Dr Schenker remarked.
It was suggested not drinking enough fluids can lead to the skin appearing more "saggy and wrinkly" than usual, as the body attempts to conserve water supplies.
This is due to the continual evaporation of water from the surface of the skin being disbanded if a person is de-hydrated.
Dr Schenker's comments follow a recent survey by the Sleep Council, which revealed one in ten women feel so tired it affects their appearance.
Every day, ten per cent of females report shadows and bags under their eyes, along with washed out and pasty skin, claiming the symptoms are due to sleep depravation.
In a bid to target a tired complexion, women claim to spend between £11 and £30 per month on cosmetics, skincare products and facials.
