Natural foods are cheaper and back on the shelves
People interested in natural foods will rejoice at the news that curvy cucumbers, knobbly carrots and out-of-shape pears will be back on shop shelves after the European Commission abolished rules that discriminate against malformed fruit and vegetables.
More than 35 different types of food can now be sold regardless of their shape or size, which sees the end of a 20-year veto on truly natural food.
Valerie Elliott, consumer editor of the Times, said: "Ugly fruit and vegetables that have grown just as nature intended will be back on supermarket shelves from today and could be up to 40 per cent cheaper than their perfectly-formed cousins."
Ten of the most popular forms of natural food will still be under the scrutiny and this includes fruits such as apples and strawberries.
Channel Fox News recently said eating the correct natural foods can help reduce wrinkles and improve the condition of hair, which may interest fans of natural beauty.
