Natural skin care: Reading food labels is important
Fans of natural skin care need to make sure that they read all food labelling so that they know exactly what they are putting into their body, according to one expert.
Sian Porter, dietician and spokesperson for the British Dietetic Association (BDA), said that, for parents in particular, it is important to know all the ingredients that they are putting into the food their children eat.
"We recommend that parents learn how to read food labels. Sometimes it is not always clear but if you know what to look for then even if it's not clear, you will be able to zone in on the information that you need," she said.
Making food with children was also recommended by the expert, who said doing that can entertain the kids and make sure all ingredients are healthy.
According to the British Heart Foundation, nine out of ten, or 92 per cent of mums, are misled by tactics manufacturers use to market children's foods loaded with fat, sugar and salt.
