Organic foods and products help detox
People interested in achieving natural beauty are constantly bombarded with information about the dangers of chemical-based products but they should not become complacent, according to one expert.
Sarah Moran, writing in the Star Tribune, said that organic food and paraben-free cosmetics are still very important.
A lot of everyday products are made up of chemicals that could disrupt a user's endocrine system, according to the journalist.
She said: "Ingredients in lotion and lipstick seep into the skin and bloodstream. Pesticides, food additives and chemicals in packaging make their way in when people eat."
Ms Moran highlighted the serious damage which can be done to the hormone system if you constantly use chemical-based products.
Deborah Swackhamer, an environmental health professor at the University of Minnesota, also offered her opinions on the comments saying that she was stunned that most chemicals have the potential to cause harm to humans.
The Independent's diet and fitness correspondent Eilish O'Regan recently said that natural food like salmon, dark green vegetables and nuts help you achieve beautiful, natural-looking hair.
