Over-eating at Christmas can lead to hard-to-shift weight
Fans of natural skin care need to make sure they watch how much they eat during the Christmas period, as many people find it hard to shift the weight they put on, according to one newspaper.
The Daily Mail reported that, because Christmas food is so high in calories and low in fibre, people end up consuming far more than the recommended daily intake before they feel full.
It stated: "The huge amounts of food prepared causes unconscious overeating the sight and smell of it sets off of metabolic signals of hunger and expand our stomach so that we need to eat more to feel equally full."
The British Dietetic Association added that more than half the people who put on five pounds will not get rid of it later on.
A group at the University of Michigan Comprehensive Cancer Center recently found that compounds made from spices, like turmeric, can reduce stem cells, which aid the development of cancerous growths.
