Pomegranate juice could help treat cancer
Fans of natural makeup could try to use pomegranate juice as a way to help treat breast cancer, according to new research which one expert said needs to be expanded on before people get too excited.
Dr Caitlin Palframan, policy manager at Breakthrough Breast Cancer, said that the recent study released in the January issue of Cancer Prevention Research, which showed eating fruits like pomegranates reduces the incidence of hormone-dependent breast cancer, was promising.
She stated: "Because we all eat a variety of foods, separating out the individual effects of one part of our diet on breast cancer risk is difficult to do. So, although this study is interesting, long-term research will be needed in humans to understand [it further]."
Breakthrough Breast Cancer recently claimed that almost 46,000 women are diagnosed with breast cancer each year in the UK with 80 per cent of those women being over 50 when they get the disease.
