Pomegranates described as important superfood
Pomegranate has been described as a superfood that can help individuals stave off illnesses and boost their health.
President of Wellness International Dorian Dugmore described how the whole fruit should be consumed in order to get the full benefit.
He explained how the skin, pith and seeds have a high concentration of antioxidants, which help reduce heart problems and cardiovascular disease.
In addition, pomegranate stimulates the production of insulin so the body can consume sugars more effectively, it was noted.
Mr Dugmore said: "It can reduce the effect of inflammatory markers in your body and reduce things like arthritis to a degree ... so there are a variety of health benefits that it has."
Individuals keen to sample pomegranates were advised to try PurePlus, which captures the health benefits of the fruit in a capsule, as this is said to offer 75 per cent more antioxidants than the juice alone.
The comments come after registered nutritionist Dr Carina Norris recently claimed that people are eating less healthily as they are on a tight budget.
