50 things you can do to manage arthritis
This new book by Wendy Green and published by Summersdale is a great read for anyone suffering from arthritis.
There are more than 200 types of arthritis and in the UK alone it is thought that 9 million people suffer from the disease. That's 1 in 5 adults and 12,000 children! Arthritis, or inflammation of the joints, can have a wide variety of causes, including genetic, biological, hormonal, lifestyle and psychological factors.
Excess weight gain, overuse of joints, injuries, infections, female hormones, stress, diet and smoking are all thought to play a part in the disease. The two most common types are osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis.
Tips in the book include taking omega 9 essential fatty acids, drinking nettle tea, maintaining muscle strength, protecting joints and eating basil...
