Consumers should 'look at product ingredients'
Consumers should pay close attention to the ingredients in their skin care products, an expert has said.
In response to a reader's question regarding the presence of the oxybenzone chemic in sun lotion, fitsugar.com advised that careful consideration should be taken when purchasing items, users of organic sunscreen may be interested to hear.
The writer explained that the substance filters UV rays and can act to allow other chemicals to break through the skin.
In order to find out exactly what is in a product the source recommended that people look out for an item which is both waterproof and non-comedogenic, which may include organic sunscreen.
The website added: "It might be well worth your money to invest in a sunscreen for just your face that covers both the requirements, and use a less expensive sunblock for the rest of your body."
Elsewhere, Rebecca Freeman, spokesperson for the British Association of Dermatologists, recently commented that people with dark skin are often unsure whether they need to wear creams and lotions such as organic sunscreen.
