Cosmetic surgery is an 'unregulated mess'
Fans of natural skin care should be careful if considering cosmetic surgery, according to one expert who said the sector is an "unregulated mess" which is less regulated than the financial market.
Nigel Mercer, president of the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons, said that the doctor's first duty to protect their patients has been forgotten about by many in the cosmetic industry.
"We have reached a stage where public expectation, driven by media hype and, dare one say, professional greed, has brought us to a 'perfect storm' in the cosmetic surgical market," he stated.
The expert went as far as to recommend the banning of all advertising for cosmetic surgery procedures across Europe and said the medical profession needs to get itself in order.
Examiner.com said that natural ingredients such as tea tree oil, peppermint, lavender and eucalyptus are becoming more popular with consumers because they are beneficial for complexions.
