Natural beauty: Women's handbags are getting lighter
Fans of natural skin care are carrying far fewer products in their handbags than they were a couple of years ago, according to the latest research, which said the weight has dropped dramatically.
Research from Debenhams has shown that the weight has plummeted from 3.5 kg in 2006 to a mere 1.5 kg last year, which is a decline of 57 per cent.
Sue Tebbitts, Handbag Buyer at Debenhams, said: "Two years ago, women were carrying around 7.3lbs the equivalent of three and a half bags of sugar - everywhere they went. Finally the burden placed upon working women is falling and its all thanks to technology."
The fashion expert was referring to the increasing number of women who are carrying around smartphones, rather than lots of different gadgets.
Pat McGrath recently told the Irish Independent that using a brush is the best way to achieve a flawless finish when applying foundation, adding that using fingers can produce results that are not as professional.
