Natural products can be safer than chemical based
Using organic ingredients from the fridge or cupboard is favourable when compared to using chemical-based products, according to one expert.
Ecologist's health and beauty journalist, Laura Sevier, said that her philosophy is that if you wouldn't eat an ingredient then do not put it on your skin.
She said: "I had run out of my natural, eco-brand cleanser and couldn't get hold of any more in the local shop. Rather than buy any of the petrochemical-based stuff, I decided to raid the kitchen cupboard and improvise with olive oil."
The commitment to natural skin care might seem slightly eccentric, but Sevier said that it is important to know there are no preservatives which could react with skin in products.
She does point out that making your own treatments can be expensive, so fans of natural skin care may want to buy their organic products in order to save money.
Natural skin care products are now much easier to get hold of, according to the Crosby Herald.
