People 'should use natural skin care sunscreen'
A leading organisation is calling for people to use more natural skin care sunscreen as a way of reducing the risk of cancer.
The American Cancer Society has issued the recommendation, along with advice to avoid the sun between the peak hours of 10:00 and 16:00, Medical News Today reports.
Using the slogan Slip! Slop! Slap! Wrap!, the organisation advises four steps which people can take to reduce the risks.
Those out and about should slip on a shirt, covering up their skin, slap on a hat to shade the face, neck and ears, and wrap on sunglasses.
The slop stage advises people to apply a sunscreen of SPF 15 or higher, which could be a natural skin care product.
It also recommends conducting a self-exam once a month to check for any early signs of melanoma, seeing whether moles or skin marking show asymmetry, border irregularity, colour or diameter over six millimetres.
EcoChildspay.com has advised families looking to buy a natural skin care product to purchase a paraben-free version.
