Women advised to read beauty ingredient lists
Beauty products that contain a lot of "chemical-sounding" ingredients should be avoided in favour of natural cosmetics.
This is according to founder of the Natural Skincare Company Amanda McGillivray, who claimed reading the component features of skincare items is the "one thing every woman should do" when purchasing goods.
"Try to opt for products with natural and organic ingredients, including herbal extracts, vitamins and essential oils," she advised, adding that "food-type" ingredients are usually listed near the top.
It was suggested that products that contain chemicals do so for commercial reasons, such as to make the item cheaper, rather than to improve the skin.
Ms McGillivray's comments came after a recent study by Vaseline revealed women in the UK spend £964 million on cosmetic products that they never use.
On average, ladies are said to waste 75 per cent of beauty items they have bought to boost their skin, the research found.
