Natural and organic skin care products 'being mimicked'
People are in danger of being fooled by chemical-based products which are masquerading as organic and natural skin care cosmetics, according to one expert.
Camille Kruse, a health and beauty correspondent for Examiner.com, said that people need to arm themselves with information so they do not get fooled by bogus products.
She stated: "The terms 'natural' and 'organic' are being thrown on labels everywhere we look, but what does it all really mean? It is important to understand the benefits and drawbacks these products to become an informed consumer."
The US Food and Drug Administration said there is no actual definition of a natural product and Kruse said that this means people need to ignore labels and instead read the ingredients before buying.
Canadians are leading the way in using natural skin care products, according to the Calgary Herald, which said that people living in the country are embracing paraben-free products.
