Conditioning treatments a hair care must

Conditioning treatments a hair care must Ladies may find their hair feels dry and brittle during the winter months as extreme temperature fluctuations and poor weather conditions wreak havoc on tresses.

However, using regular treatments with organic conditioner may help to keep locks feeling healthy and looking shiny.

Celebrity hairdresser Mark Hill explained how it is important to care for hair in the winter months in the same way you would your skin.

He described how tresses can become dry when the weather turns colder, so moisturising the hair and scalp is vital every time shampoo is used.

"If you find your hair really needs a boost, pop a conditioning treatment on and lay back in the bath for about 20 minutes," Mr Hill advised.

The expert explained how the steam from the water will help to open up hair cuticles and allow the product to penetrate deeper.

Many ladies may find they suffer from flat hair in winter as they are forced to wear hats to keep warm.

Mr Hill recommended styling locks with "as much body as possible" and carrying a comb so areas can be backcombed once hats are removed.

While rain and snow can exacerbate frizz due to the damp conditions, being indoors was noted as no better for follicles.

"Central heating can also dry your hair in the winter months. Dry heat draws moisture from anywhere it can, including your hair," Mr Hill commented.

In order to combat this problem, the hair care specialist once again recommended using plenty of conditioner and regular deep treatments to keep locks looking and feeling silky smooth.

Ladies were reminded to rinse thoroughly so all traces of the products are removed before styling.

Once women have restored their tresses back to a healthy condition they may want to try this season's hottest looks, which Mr Hill described as the "shabby bun or chignon".
