How to perfect the bouffant natural hair care style
Whether your backcombing brush is your best friend or you're more attached to your straighteners, natural hair care fans should know that big and bold is the name of the game for 'dos this season.
Cos Sakkas, international artistic director at TONI&GUY salons, pointed to the GILES spring/summer catwalk show as the forerunner for 2011's bouffant.
Celebrities have quickly caught on, with Cheryl Cole choosing to pump up the volume for her introduction as the US X Factor judge and Sarah Jessica Parker stepping out at a New York benefit with statuesque roots.
"The 70s trend is definitely catching on," Mr Sakkas said. "It is fun, youthful, but retains that expensive edge."
In terms of getting the look, he advised: "Prep the hair with a good mousse blow-dry using a large round brush and lift your hair up vertically to encourage volume."
Mr Sakkas added that curlers, tongs and backcombing will all help to set the style.
