Natural hair care 'can help older people'

Natural hair care 'can help older people' People can use natural hair care remedies to boost their locks as they get older, as low iron intake often leads to a lack of volume.

Trichologist Philip Kingsley told the Daily Mail that age affects the condition of hair, although other factors can also have an impact, such as nutrition levels.

He added that while natural hair care can help to improve condition, things such as colouring and perming can lead to fragile locks which break easily.

Dull hair is something which older women tend to experience, while shiny, glossy locks give the impression of youth. Mr Kingsley said: "However, anything that raises and roughens the hair's cuticle, such as heat or chemical damage, will make it appear dull."

When using natural hair care products to cover the first signs of grey locks, Cetera Lamb, a colourist, told the newspaper that people should only treat individual hairs, rather than the whole head.

Fans of natural hair care who want a new look can take tips from celebrities, with the recent Elle Style Awards seeing ladies such as Claire Danes, Alexa Chung and Ashley Olsen sport top looks.
