Natural hair care: The return of the perm?
It's one of the 80s trends that people are always the most afraid of – but perms are becoming increasingly popular amongst natural hair care fans that are searching for the ultimate in effortless style.
The New York Times reported that a raft of fashionistas, including the Olsen twins, Gisele Bundchen, Drew Barrymore and Kate Hudson, have become renowned for their laid-back locks, which have been described as "bohemian beach waves, bed head, second-day hair, 'hangover' hair or simply 'undone'".
However, many people are reluctant to embrace the idea of a perm, as the terminology still invokes images of poodle perms from the 1980s.
Stylist Suren Terzian commented: "The word 'perm' brings back hideous memories from the 80s. A new coined phrase wouldn't hurt."
When you're looking to achieve a permanent boho-curl look, see your local salon and have a consultation with the person that will be carrying out the treatment.
If possible, ask to see some pictures of perms that they have done before and if you're not confident that they can give you the results you're looking for, don't be afraid to go somewhere else!
