Natural hair colour: Hayden Panettiere talks about dying disaster
Natural hair colour fans take note – actress Hayden Panettiere has admitted that her desire for dramatic changes meant that her locks were badly damaged.
The Heroes star told Ellen DeGeneres that she was desperate to shake off her blonde cheerleader image at the end of filming the superhero series, so cut her hair short and opted for a red tone.
However, she admitted that her desire to change it back to blonde meant that her mane was ravaged by excessive chemical treatments.
"My hair started falling out because I dyed it red and then tried to go back to blonde. I wanted to do dark brown, I like drastic changes," Hayden explained.
"I tried to dye it back blonde and my hair just about fell out of my head. It's taken a lot of nursing back."
Stylists recommend that people do not attempt to change their hair colour by more than three shades, lighter or darker, without consultation with a stylist.
