Perm earns its return
Fans of natural hair care could be tempted by a perm this summer as the 80s look is making a startling return after the style was used heavily on catwalk shows earlier in the year.
Nathan Walker, international technical director at hairstyling chain Trevor Sorbie, said that when a perm is done well it can look very natural and increase a women's femininity.
He said: "In the last four months we have done as many perms as we have done in the whole of the last financial year ... when cared for, a perm can give body, bounce and volume that look natural and feminine."
The hair expert added that he thinks the popularity will continue to rise but not to the heady heights of the 80s when the look was extremely prominent.
Male fans of natural hair care could be interested in Nathan Walker's comments as the perm was also popular with high-profile sportsmen in the 80s including footballers Kevin Keegan, Terry McDermott and Carlos Valderrama.
