Sesame Street puppet promotes natural hair care
An internet video featuring a Sesame Street puppet is being used to convince mothers and daughters that natural hair care is best.
The brainchild of writer Joey Mazzarino, the YouTube hit shows an African character who says that people need to accept themselves just the way they are by loving their hair.
Mr Mazzarino used his adopted Ethiopian daughter as an inspiration, as she wanted to change her curly black hair to long, blonde locks.
"I really want to sit down with the writers and figure out what we can do with her and give her a name, and really expand her out," he said, hinting that the message of natural hair care could be spread even wider.
The video was posted to YouTube on October 12th and had received more than 600,000 hits during its first week, with thousands more seeing it elsewhere.
Recently, Living.OneIndia.in stated that there are many ways in which people can straighten their hair naturally, negating the need for straighteners or blow dryers.
