Sulfate-free hair products 'less likely to aggravate eczema and acne'

Sulfate-free hair products 'less likely to aggravate eczema and acne' Sulfate-free products are less likely to aggravate the skin of those with problems like acne and eczema, an expert asserts.

Susan Mayou, dermatologist, tells the Telegraph that, while these conditions are often overlooked in favour of more marketable problems such as wrinkles, there are still steps that can be taken to minimise the effect.

"So much attention is given to ageing now that proper skin problems are overlooked – complaints like rosacea, acne and eczema," she says.

It is important for people with delicate skin of this type to prioritise buying natural products, she asserts.

Among the other tips she suggests to the news provider are keeping the daily routine simple, with a moisturiser and cleanser, while steering clear of abrasives such as exfoliates.

Ms Mayou also advises that other harsh manmade products such as alcohol and petrochemicals could also exacerbate the problem, advising sufferers to avoid these.

The Cosmetic Ingredient Review has found that sodium lauryl sulfate and ammonium lauryl sulfate, which are both found in face and skincare products, can cause irritation at concentrations of two per cent or greater.ADNFCR-2389-ID-19175280-ADNFCR
