Chemicals found in cosmetics said to be potentially harmful
Ladies have been advised to swap their traditional beauty products for natural cosmetics that are chemical-free.
Dermatologist Dr Lydia Parker described in an interview with WKYC.com how regular use of items that contain preservatives, dyes and artificial fragrances can be harmful.
"The rule of thumb is if you see a long chemical name that you can't pronounce, it might not be healthy for you," she warned.
Individuals were encouraged to be especially wary of products that contain petroleum as this is said to have been linked to cancer if regularly ingested.
Instead of using lip gloss made with the chemical, Dr Parker recommended opting for natural alternatives made from beeswax and plant oils.
Equally, the specialist advised against certain anti-wrinkle and lip plumping creams that cause skin to appear swollen as this is an irritant.
Elsewhere, Dr Kimball Silverton of the Silverton Skin Institute recently described during an interview with NBC News how it is important to be aware of what ingredients are listed in beauty products.
