Cleansing is vital for maintained manicure

Cleansing is vital for maintained manicure Fans of natural skin care who want to maintain their manicure properly should make sure they cleanse their nails correctly before applying polish, according to one expert.

Belinda Price, a nail technician, recently gave tips on how to keep nails looking in top condition and said that failing to get all natural oils off a nail can lead to chipping later on.

She said: "You should file from the side to the middle and I would use a lower grit file, so about a 240 grit, 180 grit, would be the absolute lowest but generally 240 for finger nails helps. Also, try crystal files if you do have fake nails."

The expert added that women do not need to give their finger tips a break after applying nail varnish because using a decent nail stripper and base coat will help to protect them.

According to a recent report from Mintel, only one in four British women admit to discarding their makeup, shampoo and shower gel if the products smell funny or become discoloured.
