Heavy makeup advised against for older women
Natural beauty may be one option women want to consider as they age, after one expert warned that heavy makeup can look "less attractive".
In an interview with the Sydney Morning Herald, German makeup artist Heike Falkenstein explained how discretion is the key to cosmetic application for mature women.
She claimed that moisturising the skin is an important step before applying any products, as foundation will look heavy if the face has not been properly primed.
When it comes to using blushes, Ms Falkenstein recommended opting for lighter tones rather than strong shades.
"Mature women should begin at the middle of the cheek bone and spread the blush outward to the temples.
"When the cheek bones are emphasised, the face looks younger," the makeup specialist stated.
Writing in the Guardian Fashion Blog, Lisa Stokes recently described how heavy foundation should be avoided on older skin as it tends to sit in fine lines and cause creasing.
