Ladies plump for natural lip colour
You may want to follow trend across the pond, where more ladies than before are choosing to buy natural lip colour.
Beauty market research carried out by the NPD Group found that between January and April this year the prestige lip segment – which includes lip liner, lip colour, lip applicators and lip gloss – rose by seven per cent in US department stores.
The market research company discovered that this figure hit $185.2 million (£113 million).
In addition, the company found that sales in the prestige lip segment rose by four per cent in units to hit 9.8 million.
Karen Grant, vice president of the NPD Group, said: "In 2010, we saw the preference for rich as well as retro colours and in 2011 we are seeing new neutrals come to the fore. As the fashion industry increasingly features bold as well as understated lip statements on the runway and in advertisements, lip colour appears to be getting its groove back."
If you've got darker skin, you might want to try orange, red and plum shades of lip colour, while if you've got paler skin you may look better with light corals and beige hues.
