Looking good at any age 'is simple'

Looking good at any age 'is simple' Fans of natural skin care who want to retain their natural beauty as they go into old age need to follow a few simple rules, according to one magazine.

Hello! magazine gave its top tips to fight off ageing skin and said that exfoliating regularly is crucial to attaining a fresh-looking complexion which is perfect for applying makeup to.

It said: "Skin gets drier as it ages, particularly after the menopause when changing hormone levels affect natural oil production, so moisturiser is a must before makeup to prevent it looking flaky on the skin."

Using cream and lotion foundations rather than powder is also recommended by the magazine, which also said thicker moisturisers are best for hydrating older skin.

The lips are another area which the publication said needs more attention as women get older adding that using a moist lip colour is better than more matte tones.

Older men have recently been identified as a group that are becoming more interested in natural beauty products by consumer advisor Tammy Smith¬am, who told the Metro Canada about the trend.
