Mascara voted top beauty product for northern women
Ladies may be surprised to hear how new research suggests women in the south are not the only ones who enjoy splashing out on cosmetics.
According to the Trafford Centre Beauty Magic study, women from northern England enjoy spending as much as £100 on high-end products, the Messenger reports.
When asked what their favourite must-have cosmetic product is, two-thirds of respondents said they could not live without their mascara, while 20 per cent claimed lipstick is their most-important product.
It was suggested that reality TV shows may have helped increase the popularity of beauty items.
"With the huge success of shows like The Only Way Is Essex and Made in Chelsea, the perception has been that southern ladies are better groomed and more committed to their cosmetics," the Trafford Centre's Caroline Aikman stated.
The Only Way is Essex stars, such as Amy Childs, Lauren Goodger and Chloe Sims, have become fashion and beauty icons since appearing on the hit show.
