Natural beauty a 'key trend for the summer'
Natural beauty is the stand-out trend for this summer, with women from the catwalk to the high street adopting a toned-down style.
Celebrities such as Nicole Kidman and Kate Winslet have been leaders in the fashion for natural beauty and neutral colours are the key to achieving this look, according to an expert.
Sarah Silvester, owner of Touch My Face, the UK distributor of natural skin care and cosmetics brand, SukiColor, says that women are aiming to go for understated make-up during the day and then liven up their make-up with brighter colours at night to show off their tan.
"I think especially now that the weather's good people are wanting that bronzed look, but obviously they want to achieve that without having to sit in the sun too long," she says, which is where a fake tan comes in handy.
"SukiColor [products] give you a very natural, fresh look without being too heavy in the day and you can really create some more in-depth looks for the evening."
Ms Silvester recommends wearing tinted moisturiser in the summer and suggests SukiColor's product as it provides a great coverage without the need to use concealer.
It also contains the all-important protection from UV rays with an SPF of 15, which is a particularly sought-after element of natural beauty products these days.
"I think people are after products like that, that are multifunctional, doing several jobs in one and also giving them a good look," Ms Silvester asserts, highlighting that SukiColor's tinted moisturiser evens skin tone, hydrates and guards against damage from the sun.
She also recommends choosing two colours so that if your skin gets more tanned you can either opt for a darker shade, or even mix the two to create the perfect tone.
Neon shades and brighter colours are very in this summer, she adds, while smoky shades and shimmery highlighters are also great for creating a more dramatic look for the evening.
Natural beauty products are also beneficial in that they can treat skin problems.
"They're great for sensitive skin, good for people that have trouble with break-outs or eczema," Ms Silvester says, adding that they can also be good for people with rosecea and dermatitis, treating the conditions as well as concealing them.
Furthermore, recessionistas can get better value for money by buying natural beauty products as they last longer.
"A lot of synthetic products you have to throw them away after six months. Suki has a expiry date of 24 months," she explains.
And if that wasn't enough to convince you of the benefits of natural beauty products at the SukiColor brand, the fact that Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria, Juno actress Jennifer Garner and Pretty Woman Julia Roberts are all fans of the products may just do the trick!
