Natural beauty ideal for prom night

Natural beauty ideal for prom night Girls heading to their first prom this summer should opt for a toned-down, natural beauty look for the day, while covering up any spots or flaws.

NextEve.com, which offers formal hire, said that ladies do not need a lot of makeup to create the perfect look and they should start with a good concealer.

Ideally young skin only needs a concealer, rather than a heavy foundation, as it will cover blemishes and not clog pores as much.

If fans of natural beauty do plump for foundation they should get a natural shade that is not too dark for their skin and then opt for an area of the face to highlight, be it eyes, cheeks or lips.

The advice is then to put makeup on but ensure a natural, light layer of shade is used and to "use a blend of three shades of eye shadow. Use eyeliner that is a lighter colour".

"You will want your makeup to look great on your prom night, so give yourself the chance to try out a few different combinations in the weeks leading up to prom," the company added.

Girls who are unsure of the toned-down look should note that former S Club 7 star Rachel Stevens has recently told the Sun that she is a fan of natural beauty and prefers it to being caked in fake tan.
