Natural beauty: Red lips 'is the essential look this autumn'
Fans of organic skin care who want to stay on trend this autumn and winter need to use red lipstick, according to one expert who said the look is absolutely essential this season.
Maggie O'Farrell told the Guardian that a red pout has become the staple style as the fashion season gathers pace with designers like Jean Paul Gaultier and Alexander McQueen utilising the stand-out colour.
She said: "The secret with red is finding the right one for you. The choice can be dizzying - glossy or matt, pillar-box or punky? - but there is one for everyone, any age, any complexion."
The expert added that women should try a touch of red at first and experiment to find the right amount for their complexion.
Red lips have also been sported by actresses such as Sienna Miller and Scarlet Johansson who were spotted wearing the colour earlier in the year.
