Natural makeup advice for pregnant women

Natural makeup advice for pregnant women If you're a mum-to-be you're sure to want to look like a yummy mummy throughout your pregnancy, but you'll have different natural makeup needs to ladies who don't have a baby on board.

Before you shrug your shoulders in frustration and wonder what to do, don't panic!

We've got plenty of beauty tips to ensure that you'll be positively glowing throughout your pregnancy.

Firstly, it's worth noting that some things may no longer be suitable to use, and a doctor can advise you of this.

Vijetha Anand, a makeup artist based in India, told the Deccan Chronicle that if you're pregnant it's a good idea to steer clear of cosmetic goods containing chemicals, although there are many organic products you can get your hands on instead!

The beauty guru also said that expectant mums might find that their skin becomes drier than usual, in which case they should use moisturiser generously.

If, however, your skin starts to feel oilier, you can follow the skin care advice that celebrity make-up artist Bobbi Brown offered to Babycentre.co.uk.

She said: "... Switch to oil-free formulas if your skin is feeling greasy."

If you're pregnant you may also find that your body needs more calcium, giving you the perfect excuse to have a manicure with calcium-containing polish.

Then, of course, there's those dreaded stretch marks. Even Victoria Beckham was concerned about them during her fourth pregnancy and, according to the Daily Mail, ordered 50 bottles of cream that claimed to prevent them.

There are several products that are rumoured to be able to reduce these blemishes, including camellia oil and cocoa and shea butters, for you to try, so now's the time to start slathering them on!

A lesser-known potential pregnancy problem is hyper-pigmentation, a condition that causes the skin to develop darker patches, which should clear up after you've given birth.

Don't despair if you get this though, Ms Brown said that the marks can easily be covered with a concealer, which can be brushed on.

She said that this product can then be covered lightly by foundation, which should then be set with powder.

It's also a wise idea to use sunscreen when you're outdoors, as UV rays can make pigment change more than it would do otherwise.

If you follow all these tips you'll look lovely during your pregnancy and beyond.
