Natural makeup: Catwalk embraces a 1960s revival

Natural makeup: Catwalk embraces a 1960s revival As ever, the runways of New York, London and Milan have given us a nod as to what natural makeup styles we can expect later in the year – and 1960s revival seems high on the list.

Vogue reported that the catwalks were a sea of "full-on, doe-eyed Bambi lashes and/or bouffed beehives" in a nod to the era that has been recreated by TV sensation Mad Men.

Prada and Brioni embraced the simple ponytail as a throwback to more laid-back, boho styling that embodied the late '60s spirit, while Pucci and DSquared2 chose messy plaits for their models.

If you want to recreate 1960s beauty, sweep your hair back to the nape of the neck, allowing strands to remain stray around the face and add a simple hair band or flower clip for decoration.

For the face, keep the complexion pale and even with face powder, before adding pink or peach natural blusher to the cheeks and delicate pink natural lip colour.

Your eyes should be bright and not heavily defined, so use nude natural eye shadow and brown mascara, in order to create a soft effect.
