Natural makeup: Don't go over-the-top with glitter
Too much of a good thing can be bad for you – and a natural makeup expert has warned that too much glitter can simply make you look "a mess".
Celebrity makeup artist and Pearl Drops spokesperson Ariane Poole said that glitter should be thought of as an accessory as the party season approaches, and should be used to complement natural eye shadow, lipstick and other cosmetic mainstays, not dominate them.
Ms Poole said: "If you have shimmer on your eyes then you can either leave it at that or you can choose to accent either the cheeks or the lips but not both."
Those of you looking for a more subtle approach to spangles should consider using glitter nail varnish, or adding loose shimmer powder to natural body moisturiser for an all-over glow, Ms Poole added.
A Vogue spring/summer 2011 trend report noted that glitter has sneaked its way back into the catwalk shows for next season's styling, with touches of glitter accenting below the lash line and sparkly nails a plenty.
