Neanderthal natural 'makeup' discovered
Fans of natural makeup could be following in the footsteps of Neanderthal man when applying their products, according to a team of researchers, who claim they have found evidence that they made their own primitive cosmetics.
British archaeologists believe they have found proof that early man experimented with basic ingredients to make brightly coloured powders and pastes.
"This is the first secure evidence for their use of cosmetics. The use of these complex recipes is new. It's more than body painting. To me, it's the smoking gun that kills the argument [that Neanderthals were simple] once and for all," Professor Joao Zilhao from Bristol University stated.
The group found lumps of red powder and yellow 'foundation-type' pigment, which had been mixed with a reflective black material.
Fans of natural makeup may want to use Nicole Kidman as an example of what not to do when applying their products after the A-Lister appeared on the red carpet with a less-than-perfect complexion recently.
