Products designed to help skin can hurt it, author warns
A number of face products which are designed to help the skin can contain chemicals which may prove harmful to it, an expert asserts, which highlights the need for an organic skin care regime.
Stacy Malkan, author of Not Just A Pretty Face: The Ugly Side of the Beauty Industry, tells the Calgary Herald that many firms do not list the chemical ingredients of their goods.
"Ironically, some face creams that are supposed to improve your skin actually contain chemicals that are toxic to your skin," she warns.
In addition, she advises that customers research claims that any given company's products are pure, gentle or doctor-approved to determine what these terms actually mean.
Ms Malkan emphasises the importance of consumers making an informed choice about the goods they buy in order to ensure their organic skin care purchases stand up to these assertions.
Professor Richard Sharpe, part of the Medical Research Council, recently warned that exposure during pregnancy to a combination of chemicals found in cosmetic products could lead to young boys experiencing fertility difficulties.
