Recession is not curbing natural beauty spending

Recession is not curbing natural beauty spending Women are not cutting the amount of natural beauty products they are buying during the economic downturn and are prepared to splash out in order to feel good, according to an expert.

Beauty expert David Hughes said that women do not mind spending a lot of money on cosmetics which may only last a month or so.

When asked whether people can afford to splash a lot of money on beauty products in a recession, he said: "The answer is that people are already spending [a lot]. I was amazed at the amount of money that people are spending on moisturisers, anti-aging cream [and] anti-wrinkle cream."

The comments are backed up by recent research from Mintel, which showed that six out of ten women around the globe had not changed their beauty buying habits during the economic downturn.

Women in the UK were the least likely to change their regimes, with only one in four claiming to have stopped certain treatments.
