Smokey eyes 'a classic look'
Ladies may want to invest in natural eye shadow after one expert claimed "the classic smokey eye" is suitable for all occasions.
Makeup artist Jules Cardozo-Marsh explained how the beauty trend suits "any outfit" and is a fail-safe look.
"Load a pearly cream eye shadow on to the upper lid to create an illuminating base, then with a soft eye shadow brush, carefully blend a dark shade of your choice over the entire eyelid," she advised.
To complete the look, Ms Cardozo-Marsh recommended applying a layer of black mascara.
For an updated style, colourful jewel shades were recommended as a "modern alternative" to traditional smokey eyes.
Elsewhere, Ms Cardozo-Marsh suggested trying out lipstick in a deep berry shade for a sophisticated look at Christmas parties.
The comments followed recent research from M&S Money that revealed 46 per cent of people who set a budget for their festive shopping fail to stick to it.
