The Kitchen is a haven for natural beauty
People wanting to create natural beauty products could find inspiration in their own kitchen, according to one expert.
The Guardian's Bibi van der Zee alongside beauty expert Mark Constantine looked around her kitchen for items which could be used as skin care cosmetics.
"Cosmetic companies must by law put preservatives into their products, but they're horrible things... they are there to kill any organisms that may get into your product, and for no other reason," he said.
Mr Constantine said that sometimes the latest so-called must-have items are a step backwards.
The writer added that making her own products was a fun process but perhaps not the best way to look after her skin on a full-time basis.
In other natural beauty news, Jenn Brockman told Examiner.com that sugar cane works as a natural acid and its rough texture makes it perfect for removing old skin and stimulating new growth.
