Wedding belles to opt for vintage natural makeup and hair
As brides-to-be excitedly plan for their big day, an expert has suggested that vintage natural makeup styles and hair designs will be dominating the aisles in coming months.
Helen Webster, editor of Perfect Wedding magazine, said that while retro styling has been popular for some time, as a result of the Mad Men effect, the focus will move from the 1940s and 50s to flapper-esque styles inspired by the 1920s and 30s.
She explained: "I think we are going to see a return to the more polished look so certainly red lips [and] matte foundation - there is a more glamorous look coming through."
In addition, Ms Webster said that accessories will incorporate "vintage colours", such as gold, as well as "side-detail tiaras [and] very elaborate 20s-inspired hair combs".
Last month, hairdresser Michael Van Clarke told Wedding magazine readers that 2011 is "all about celebrating being a bride" as a result of the royal wedding.
