Check use-by dates on organic skin care products
People investing in organic skin care need to make sure that they check the use-by dates on the products, as they may go off more quickly than ones packed with preservatives, an expert has warned.
Daily Mail beauty guru Elsa McAlonan said that organic skin care and makeup items may not last as long, but mineral products will.
Celebrity make-up artist Melissa Evans told the newspaper that pure mineral powders should not ever need to be thrown away before they are finished, if used hygienically.
"However, any makeup that is referred to as 'mineral' but is in a cream or stick form is not pure mineral - it will have other ingredients added - so should be treated the same as regular makeup products," she added.
Another tip for keeping makeup healthy and germ free is to regularly wash brushes in an antibacterial washing detergent.
Recent research from Debenhams showed that the average women's cosmetics bag is around four years out of date.
