Low-key makeup 'more popular in the south'
New research suggests women in the south prefer to keep their beauty routine natural, while those in the north are fans of using lots of products.
A study conducted by Debenhams found that Londoners would rather spend their money on moisturiser, concealer, mascara, powder and lip gloss than fake tan.
Meanwhile, ladies in the north and Scotland regularly stock up on tanning lotion, bronzer and false eyelashes ahead of a night out.
Spokesperson for Debenhams Ruth Attridge stated: "This beauty research helps us manage where we send our stock and when."
This is due to the poll revealing that northern women like to purchase and apply fake tan on a Thursday in preparation for the weekend.
The only area in the south that bucked the trend for minimal makeup was Essex, with reality TV stars such as Amy Childs and Lauren Goodger possibly helping boost sales of tanning lotions and false eyelashes.
