Mothers 'should use natural skin care to avoid affecting their children'
New mothers should make sure they use natural skin care and natural beauty, as chemicals in these products can affect the child, an expert asserts.
Shelly Brown, founder of Planitgreenhome.com, says parents should do what they can to minimise their kids' exposure to these substances.
"The beauty products that a new mum uses can affect her baby," she says.
She states that it is important natural skin care products and shampoos are used, in order that they "can rest assured that nothing harmful is getting into their bodies or on their skin".
Among the changes she also advises is washing clothes with hypoallergenic laundry detergent and using non-toxic products for cleaning.
Taking these steps will enable mothers to ensure that their new baby is safely protected from harsh chemicals in the home.
The BBC recently advised that women's exposure to chemicals found in some cosmetic products during pregnancy could lead to the male children developing fertility problems.
