Natural foods can help with health
Fans of natural skin care who want to find some alternative remedies to over-the-counter drugs and prescriptions could be inspired by an ethnobotanist who thinks herbs could be the answer.
The Independent spoke to James Wong, the 28-year-old presenter of Channel 4's Grow Your Own, who thinks that there has been an incorrect image of herbal medicine built up over the years.
He said: "A lot of people assume plant-based medicine is different from conventional medicine. But actually the difference is culturally constructed. Whether an active ingredient is found in a petal or a pill, it is still doing the same thing."
The expert added that around half of scientific medicine found in local chemist comes from plants, which could interest fans of natural skin care.
In other news, Sugarscape.com recently reported that five superfoods, including watercress and oats, can make a difference to a complexion and give skin a healthy glow.
