Natural makeup: Sunshine vitamin can cut cancer risk
Fans of natural skin care should make sure that they get enough of a sunshine vitamin which can reduce the chances of developing bowel cancer, according to a new study.
The Daily Mail reported on a study published in the British Medical Journal, which suggested that having more vitamin D in your blood makes it less likely you will develop the dangerous disease.
Dr Panagiota Mitrou, science programme manager for the World Cancer Research Fund (WCRF), which conducted the study, told the newspaper that more needs to be done to look into the link between vitamin D and cancer.
He said: "This is the biggest ever study on this subject and there is now quite a lot of evidence from studying populations that people who have low levels of vitamin D are more likely to develop dowel cancer."
Following a healthy diet can give help people the best possible chance of avoiding cancer, according to Dr Rachel Thompson, science programme manager from the WCRF, who said that being physically active is also important.
